Keningsdei 2026 in Dokkum
On 27 April 2026, Dokkum became the centre of national attention. But Keningsdei was about much more than a single day. Throughout the Keningswykein (King's Weekend), Dokkum and the surrounding villages were filled with orange decorations and an unmistakable sense of anticipation. Music echoed across the squares, residents and visitors came together, and the entire region buzzed with excitement.
The city's historic centre provided the backdrop for a celebration of Frisian pride, culture and community. While thousands of visitors lined the streets and millions watched from home, an extensive team worked behind the scenes for months to bring this extraordinary weekend to life.

What We Do Best
For Vinke Vision, Keningsdei 2026 brought together everything we do best: safety, mobility, event production, communications and city dressing. Combining these disciplines allowed us to develop one integrated approach in which every element supported the next.
Working closely with the Municipality of Noardeast-Fryslân, emergency services, the regional safety authority, the Royal Household and many other partners, we spent months preparing for an event where planning, collaboration and execution came together seamlessly. The result was a celebration where visitor experience and operational excellence went hand in hand.

A City in Motion

City Dressing
The city dressing started with one simple question. How could we showcase Dokkum at its very best?
Rather than adding more, we focused on enhancing what was already there. The city's historic streets, distinctive architecture and Frisian identity became the foundation of one cohesive visual concept.
From flags and banners to passport booths, stamp cards, wayfinding signage and crowd barrier banners, every element was designed and produced as part of a recognisable visual identity. The result was a welcoming environment that guided visitors effortlessly through the city while allowing Dokkum itself to remain centre stage.

Communication That Connects
An event like Keningsdei is about more than its visitors. It brings together residents, local businesses, volunteers and partner organisations, making clear communication essential.
We connected stakeholders, built new partnerships and kept everyone informed through clear communication and close collaboration. This created strong support and engagement across the region.
That connection made the difference. Keningsdei became more than a celebration for the region; it became a celebration created with the region.

A Weekend to Remember
More than 3.000 people contributed to the success of Keningsdei 2026. Professionals, volunteers and partners worked side by side to create a weekend that will be remembered for years to come.
On 27 April, everything came together as Dokkum welcomed the Netherlands with the very best of Fryslân. Frisian traditions, music, sport and storytelling created a warm and memorable experience. For us, it was a project where months of preparation, creativity and collaboration came together seamlessly.
Keningsdei 2026 was more than an event. It was a weekend in which an entire region proudly showcased its identity. Fryslân boppe!
